Series 3 Max+ is a standalone laser; Captain Air is built around Bluetooth and GPS context.

No. A straightforward magnetic slope laser is enough. I prefer a standalone device with no connected setup. Yes. I want front/center/back GPS alongside laser yardage. Bluetooth connectivity is a meaningful part of the purchase.

Which hardware level matches your needs?

Both use 6x magnification and rechargeable batteries, but their range and protection tiers differ.

The Series 3 Max+ 900-yard class and IPX4 protection are enough. I do not need to pay mainly for stronger weather protection and connectivity. I want the Captain Air’s 1000-yard class and IP65 protection. I play enough in wet/dusty conditions to value the stronger rating.

Connected recovery and course context can be more useful than another raw distance spec.

Magnet, slope switch and pulse/flag-lock style feedback cover my needs. I want fewer app-driven features and a simpler routine. Find My Rangefinder and GPS course context are valuable to me. I want connected club suggestions and the GAME ecosystem.

I will choose Series 3 Max+ if a trustworthy current listing offers meaningful value. I prefer the simpler Series 3 Max+ if its real-world price is clearly better. I prefer Captain Air when prices are close because I will use the connected upgrades. I want the newer Captain path rather than shopping primarily for savings.
